RESTRUCTURING/TURNAROUND

Sometimes restructuring and turnaround go together and sometimes they are entirely separate actions.  Especially in small and medium sized entities, the task of growing is often blocked by the structure of the organization.  There is a fear of losing the organizational identity or creating a diversion from the core activities.  Additionally, successfully taking the next step in growth and moving toward a future monetizing of the entity requires a restructuring.

There are several ways of looking at the organization, developing not only a growth plan, but also considering what is the exit plan for the owner, key employees, shareholders, etc.  By understanding and working on the ending, it is easier to then create the beginning of the business path to restructuring.  We work with the stakeholders to understand their goals, timeline horizon and underlying concerns.

In the circumstances when shareholder equity is at risk, turnaround activities are critical to placing the organization on solid footing and then examine the long-term task for rebuilding, divesture or other supported action.

In cases of organizations wanting to grow or entities in crisis, we have never seen a situation when we were called for help “too early in the process”.  Most of the time, the circumstances have reached a certain level of pain that it qualifies for action.  While we are prepared for these circumstances, the path to success is easier if we are involved sooner rather than later.
